Description
A quick and spicy sandwich featuring seasoned ground chicken topped with a rich cheese sauce, served on toasted brioche.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground chicken
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 small Onion
- 1/2 cup low-sodium Chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Tomato paste
- 1/2 cup canned Tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
- Freshly ground Black pepper to taste
- 1 tsp Brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1/4 tsp Paprika
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 4 Brioche hamburger buns
- 2 tbsp unsalted Butter
- 1 cup Whole milk
- 8 oz Sharp cheddar or American cheese, freshly shredded
Instructions
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in the ground chicken and cook until browned.
- Add chicken broth, tomato paste, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, brown sugar, paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux. Gradually add milk, stirring until thickened, then add shredded cheese until melted.
- Toast the brioche buns.
- Assemble the sloppy joes by placing the chicken mixture on the bun and topping it with the creamy cheese sauce.
Notes
Use freshly shredded cheese for a smoother sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
