Description
A warm and comforting taco bake made with seasoned ground beef, melty cheese, and flaky crescent roll crust, perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey for leaner option)
- 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- ½ cup salsa (or diced tomatoes with green chiles)
- Optional: ½ cup black beans (rinsed)
- Optional: ½ cup corn (frozen or canned)
- Optional: ¼ cup diced bell peppers
- Optional: Jalapeño slices or crushed red pepper for spice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×9 or 9×13 baking dish.
- In a large skillet, brown 1 lb ground beef over medium heat (about 6–7 minutes). Add diced onions and cook until translucent, about 2 more minutes. Stir in taco seasoning and ½ cup salsa, then simmer for 3 minutes.
- Unroll crescent dough into the baking dish, pressing seams together to form one layer that covers the bottom and slightly up the sides.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly over the dough base, then sprinkle with 1 cup cheddar cheese.
- Use remaining crescent dough to create a lattice topping, ensuring steam can escape.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
- Let it sit for 5 minutes before slicing to set.
Notes
To avoid soggy bottoms, use a metal or glass baking dish and avoid overfilling with meat mixture.
