Ingredients
- 4 cups bread flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened (for icing)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
Instructions
- Feed your sourdough starter several hours before using.
- In a mixing bowl, combine bread flour, sourdough starter, milk, brown sugar, and salt.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let it ferment at room temperature for several hours or overnight in the fridge.
- Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle.
- Spread the cinnamon-sugar filling over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into individual rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and allow to rise until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare cream cheese icing by mixing softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla.
- Spread icing over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
For a richer icing, consider adding more powdered sugar or a touch of milk. Store extras in an airtight container.
