Ingredients
  

Macaron Shells
  • 1 cup Almond Flour Gives macarons their signature nutty flavor and delicate structure
  • 1 cup Confectioners' Sugar For sweetness and to achieve the right texture
  • 3 large Egg Whites Preferably aged to stabilize the meringue
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar To make a stable meringue
  • 1 teaspoon Food Coloring Optional, adds vibrancy to your macarons
Filling
  • 1 cup Filling of Choice Buttercream, ganache, or jam for delightful flavor combinations

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats to prevent sticking.
  2. In a bowl, sift together the almond flour and confectioners' sugar until fine.
  3. In a clean, dry bowl, whip the egg whites on medium speed until foamy.
  4. Gradually add granulated sugar and continue whisking until stiff peaks form.
  5. If desired, add food coloring during the last few minutes of whipping.
  6. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the meringue using a spatula.
  7. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto your prepared sheets.
  8. Let the piped macarons rest for at least 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and bake the macarons for 12-15 minutes.

Notes

For best results, use aged egg whites and check your oven temperature. Store macarons in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to seven days.
