  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Measure by spooning it into the cup and leveling it off.
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips For a mix of flavors, use half dark chocolate chips and half milk chocolate chips.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds extra flavor.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until well combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop rounded mounds of dough onto ungreased baking sheets using a tablespoon.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set, but the centers are still soft.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For longer storage, freeze cookies in a freezer bag for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature or warm in a low oven for a few minutes.
