Method
Make the Blueberry Syrup
- In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Cook over medium heat for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the blueberries burst and the mixture becomes syrupy.
- Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or another container to remove solids. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
Prepare the Lemonade
- In a pitcher, mix the cooled blueberry syrup with the freshly squeezed lemon juice and 4 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar or lemon juice if needed.
- Serve the blueberry lemonade over ice, garnished with lemon slices and extra blueberries.
Notes
Store leftover lemonade in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For a fizzy version, add a splash of club soda just before serving. Make the blueberry syrup ahead of time to save time on busy days.
