  • 6 slices thick-cut Bacon Choose bacon with a good meat-to-fat balance.
  • 4 oz cooked Chicken breast Use plain cooked chicken for balanced flavors.
  • 1 ripe Avocado Select a ripe but firm avocado.
  • 4 leaves Romaine lettuce Fresh and crisp for layering.
  • 2 medium Tomatoes Pick bright red, firm tomatoes.
  • 2 tbsp Bbq sauce Serve on the side for dipping.
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise Adds moisture and tang.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Use to enhance flavors.
  • 4 slices Sourdough bread Choose hearty bread with good crust.
  • 1 tbsp Butter For toasting the bread.
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese Should be smooth and not crumbly.

Method
 

Cooking the Bacon
  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy, then remove to paper towels.
Toasting the Bread
  1. Toast the sourdough bread with butter in the same skillet until golden brown.
Assembling the Sandwich
  1. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of toasted bread.
  2. Layer the first slice of bread with lettuce, tomatoes, sliced avocado, chicken breast, bacon, and one slice of cheese.
  3. Top with a second slice of bread and repeat the layering (lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, bacon, cheese).
  4. Finish with the final slice of bread, mayo side down.
  5. Cut the sandwich in halves or quarters, securing with toothpicks if desired.

Notes

Store assembled sandwiches in the fridge for up to 24 hours. For best texture, store components separately.
