Preparation
- In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it rest for about 5 minutes until it’s bubbly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until it forms a smooth dough.
- Fold in the chopped nuts gently.
Kneading and Rising
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Once risen, punch down the dough gently, shape it into a loaf, and place on a baking tray.
- Let the formed loaf rise again for about 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the stollen for 40-50 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the stollen to cool and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Great for serving at tea time or as a festive dessert. Can be frozen for up to three months. For best flavor, consider toasting nuts before adding.
