For the crust
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs Use gluten-free graham crumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Use real butter for better flavor.
For the filling
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semisweet or milk chocolate, based on preference.
  • 1 cup shredded coconut Use fresh shredded coconut, not sweetened flakes.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) Toast nuts lightly for deeper flavor.
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk Use dairy-free alternatives for a vegan option.
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips (optional) Adds color and a buttery flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine graham cracker crumbs with melted butter in a bowl. Mix until crumbs are moistened.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the greased pan in an even layer.
Layering
  1. Evenly sprinkle chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and chopped nuts over the crust.
  2. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the layers.
  3. If using, sprinkle butterscotch chips on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and edges bubble.
  2. Remove from oven and let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Freeze for up to 3 months.
