Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 head cabbage, chopped Choose a firm head with tight, crisp leaves
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped Thick-cut bacon for richer drippings
  • 1 onion diced Yellow onion adds sweetness
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Use fresh for best flavor
  • Salt and pepper to taste Taste near the end for saltiness adjustment

Method

Cooking Bacon
  1. Cook the bacon over medium heat for 3–6 minutes until browned and crisp. Reserve drippings.
Sautéing Onions
  1. Remove bacon and sauté the diced onion in the reserved drippings for 3–5 minutes until translucent and slightly browned.
Cooking Garlic and Cabbage
  1. Add minced garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds until glossy. Then add chopped cabbage, seasoning with salt and pepper, and cook for about 10 minutes.
Final Mix
  1. Stir occasionally until the cabbage is tender. Return bacon to the skillet, mix well, and serve hot.

Notes

For best results use a wide skillet and keep heat at medium. Adjust seasoning toward the end and enjoy slight crunch from bacon.
