- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels to remove moisture.
- Flatten the chicken breasts to an even thickness using a zip-top bag or a small saucepan.
- Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Cooking
- Heat a skillet over medium to medium-high heat and add olive oil.
- Place the chicken in the skillet and let it cook undisturbed for 5 to 6 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the chicken, lower the heat slightly, and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes depending on thickness.
- If using butter, add it during the last minute, spooning it over the chicken.
- Check for doneness; the internal temperature should reach 165°F in the thickest part.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For best results, avoid cooking chicken straight from the fridge; let it sit out for 10-15 minutes. Always slice against the grain for more tender pieces.
