Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, Italian breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning until just combined.
- Shape the meat mixture into a rectangle on parchment paper and place cubed mozzarella in the center. Roll up the meat to encase the cheese.
- Place in a greased baking dish and top with marinara sauce.
Baking
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
Keep the mozzarella cubes cold so they do not melt before baking. Do not overmix the meat; mix just until ingredients come together. Use a meat thermometer to ensure safe doneness. Let the loaf rest 5–10 minutes before slicing to keep juices inside.
