Preparation
- In a bowl, mix the active dry yeast with warm milk and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In another bowl, beat the egg, egg yolks, honey, and vanilla.
- Add the flour, sugar, and salt to the egg mixture and mix well. Then add the yeast mixture and combine until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough onto a greased baking pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the cake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Topping
- For the topping, melt the butter in a pan, add honey, and stir in the cream.
- Pour the topping over the cake and sprinkle with almonds.
- Bake again for 10-15 minutes until bubbly and caramelized.
- Allow cooling before cutting into pieces and serving.
Notes
Serve with tea or coffee for a delightful evening snack. For extra crunch, toast the almonds slightly before adding them as a topping.
