  • 6 slices 6 slices of bacon Smoky flavor adds depth; substitute with ham if desired.
  • 1 cup 1 cup heavy cream For a rich, velvety custard.
  • 3 large 3 large eggs Essential for binding everything together.
  • 1 cup 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese Adds a nutty flavor; Swiss cheese works too.
  • Salt and pepper To taste, season for enhanced flavor.
  • Fresh herbs (optional) Like chives or thyme for added freshness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then chop into small pieces.
  3. If using a homemade crust, roll it out and fit it into a pie dish. Poke holes in the bottom with a fork to prevent puffing. Pre-bake for about 10 minutes until slightly golden.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cream, eggs, salt, and pepper until combined. Stir in the Gruyère cheese and cooked bacon.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle fresh herbs on top if desired.
Baking
  1. Place the quiche in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and lightly golden. The quiche should jiggle slightly but not be runny.
  2. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing to let the filling firm up. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better blending and smoother texture. Be cautious with salt as bacon and cheese can be salty. Experiment with different cheeses for unique twists.
