  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature eggs for better blending.
  • 1 box devil's food or German chocolate cake mix Choose a good quality mix for deep cocoa flavor.
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips For a sweeter chocolate flavor.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup coconut Use sweetened shredded coconut for classic texture.
  • 1 cup pecans Lightly toast for enhanced flavor.
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted) Use unsalted for better control of salt.
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk Use a reputable brand for sweetness and texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Fold in the milk chocolate chips, coconut, and pecans until evenly distributed.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  5. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top of the batter.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges start to pull away from the sides and the top looks set.
  2. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 30-45 minutes before cutting.

Notes

For clean cuts, chill for about an hour. Use a sharp knife for slicing.
