Ingredients

For the Beef Bites
  • 1 lb beef chuck or stew beef, cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Crispy Fries
  • 3 large potatoes, cut into fries
  • Oil for frying
For the Coleslaw
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 carrot shredded
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 lime halved
  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, toss the beef cubes with paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated. Let sit for a few minutes to absorb the seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned beef and sliced onions, cooking until browned, around 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the BBQ sauce, soy sauce, and honey. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes on low heat until sticky and tender.
Cooking the Fries
  1. Heat oil in a separate pan for frying the potato strips. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-8 minutes. Be cautious not to overcook.
Making the Coleslaw
  1. In a large bowl, mix the shredded cabbage with the shredded carrot, mayonnaise, and vinegar until creamy and well combined.
Serving
  1. Arrange the beef bites on a plate next to crispy fries and a generous scoop of coleslaw. Garnish with a lime wedge and sprinkle chopped parsley.

Notes

For the best quality beef, choose well-marbled chuck. For substitutions, use tamari for gluten-free or vegan mayo for a dairy-free option. Beef bites can be made ahead of time and reheated for optimal flavor.
