For the Chicken
  • 6 pieces chicken drumsticks Skin on preferred for better flavor.
  • 2 tbsp honey Can substitute with maple syrup.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic provides best flavor.
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce Use low-sodium for a healthier option.
  • 1 tbsp ketchup Adds sweetness and flavor depth.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil Can use any cooking oil.
  • 1 tsp paprika For added color and mild flavor.
  • to taste salt & black pepper Adjust according to preference.
For Serving
  • 2 cups cooked white rice Fluff before serving.
  • 1 cup lettuce, chopped Can use any salad greens.
  • 0.5 cup cucumber, sliced Adds crunch and freshness.
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced Use ripe tomato for best flavor.
  • 0.25 cup red onion, sliced Red onion gives a milder taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Season the chicken by tossing drumsticks with salt, pepper, paprika, and olive oil.
  2. Make the honey garlic sauce by mixing honey, garlic, soy sauce, and ketchup until glossy.
Cooking
  1. Bake the chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 35–40 minutes, brushing with sauce halfway through.
Serving
  1. Prepare the rice and salad by fluffing the rice and assembling the salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and onion.
  2. Plate and serve the drumsticks over rice with salad on the side.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the honey garlic sauce for a few hours before baking. You can also grill the drumsticks for a smoky flavor. Consider adding vegetables to the baking tray for a one-pan meal.
