Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, nutmeg, and salt together.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in chopped strawberries, orange zest, and buttermilk until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick circle.
- Cut the circle into 8 wedges and place them on a baking sheet.
Baking
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle over warm scones and top with whole strawberries.
Notes
Serve warm. Best enjoyed fresh. Can be frozen and reheated for later use.
