Tennessee Onions

Ingredients
  

Onion Base
  • 4 rings Sweet onions Use Vidalia onions for maximum flavor.
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Dot over the mixture.
Cheese Blend
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup Grated provolone cheese

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the sweet onions into rings.
Assembly
  1. In a baking dish, layer the onion rings.
  2. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over the onions.
  3. Layer the mozzarella, parmesan, and provolone cheeses on top of the onions.
  4. Dot the mixture with butter.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the onions are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbling.

Notes

Serve hot as a side dish with grilled meats, fried chicken, or on burgers. For dipping, serve with ranch dressing. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave. Consider adding garlic powder or sautéed vegetables for variation.
