Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the sugar and eggs until well combined and slightly frothy.
  4. Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to combine.
  5. Gently fold in the flour and vanilla extract until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top has set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
