  • 1 cup granulated sugar Creates the caramelized crust.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional, for a warm note.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances the sweetness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Sprinkle the sugar, cinnamon, and salt evenly over the pastry and press the sugar into the dough.
  4. Fold the sides of the pastry towards the center until they meet in the middle, forming two logs.
  5. Fold the logs together like an envelope into one thick rectangle, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  6. Slice the chilled pastry into about 1/2 inch thick pieces.
  7. Place the slices on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out to allow for expansion.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and caramelized, flipping halfway through.

Notes

Tips: Keep your dough cold while working with it for proper rising. Experiment with flavors and serve warm for the best taste.
