Ingredients
  

For the sauces
  • 2 cups bechamel sauce Make with whole milk, real butter, and fresh flour.
  • 2 cups tomato sauce Use a simple sauce with tomato, salt, and herbs.
For the cheese layer
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix) Shred cheese from a block for better melt.
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt Adjust to your preference.
  • to taste pepper Adjust to your preference.
For the breadsticks
  • 1 batch Homemade breadsticks Use a simple dough rich in butter or olive oil.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a baking dish, layer the bechamel sauce at the bottom.
  3. Spread the warmed bechamel to an even layer, then spoon the tomato sauce over it.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the sauces.
  5. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Repeat the layers if desired, finishing with a layer of cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 25–30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  2. Let the dish rest for 3–5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh, whole ingredients and make bechamel with whole milk. Customize with different cheeses and spices for varied flavors.
